Turmeric: An Herb for Natural Sun Damage Protection & After-Sun Care

Video Transcript:

If you sometimes suffer with sunburns or are looking for a natural way to support your skin and protect it from UVA, UVB, and the assorted UV rays and damage that occurs from being exposed to the sun and being outside in the spring, summer, and fall, today I’m going to share with you some really powerful resources that you probably didn’t even realize are in a capsule.

Turmeric 3D: Internal & Topical Applications for Skin Care

I’m excited, friends, to share with you a way that you can use herbals, both internally and topically, to help support your skin and protect it from sun damage.

There are an assortment of supplements that we have actually put together in our Turmeric 3D, our T3D, that you can use both internally and you can even open up the capsule and use it as a paste on your skin. Let me break down some of the powerful anti-inflammatory and UV-protectant benefits of these items.

Vitamin D: Prevention of Sun Damage and Reduced Skin Cancer Risk

First of all, vitamin D is a powerful resource, and you can use vitamin D both internally and topically to help both prevent sun damage and to reduce UV radiation exposure on the skin.

There’s a lot of clinical research that shows increasing and enhancing and optimizing your vitamin D levels internally can actually lower your risk of skin cancer [1], which by the way, skin cancer is one of the worst cancers and most pervasive cancers that a lot of folks are not screening and routinely assessing within and on top of their skin. It’s important that with all of these recommendations, you make sure you have a regular dermatology appointment annually to assess skin changes and cellular changes and spots that might be suspect.

Vitamin D is powerful for helping support protection of your skin and reducing the damage of the sunrays, changing the cellular makeup, and minimizing the youthfulness of your skin cells.

Curcumin: Anti-Inflammatory, Antioxidant to Minimize UV Damage

The other powerful herbal that I just absolutely love is turmeric, and curcumin is the active ingredient that is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant that both minimizes UV sun damage. There’s a lot of protectant properties that turmeric provides when you take it internally.

Reduce Effects of Sunburn with Topical Application

But also if you have a sunburn, topical application of turmeric will reduce the inflammation, the swelling, and even the redness of the sunburn and actually help support turnover of your cells so that you get over the sunburn and might even prevent peeling.

Ginger: Increase Skin Elasticity & Reduce Wrinkles

Now, another powerful herbal is ginger, and studies show, ginger particularly at 12 weeks, if you take ginger internally and apply it topically, it will help reduce wrinkling and increase the skin elasticity. [2]

How to Use Turmeric 3D for After-Sun Care & Damage Prevention

Overall, these particular items you’re going to find here in our T3D. I’m going to share with you, we have 5,000 IUs of vitamin D3 in T3D.

You take two capsules in the morning. When you do a paste, you can use one or two capsules, depending on the space or the quantity of skin that we need to address. A lot of times people will be using it on their face, their neck, their chest, their hands, and the arm. Sometimes two to four capsules might be what you want to use for your paste.

And then we also have a combination of turmeric, ashwagandha, and ginger, and that equals about 1,000 milligrams. Turmeric, being a fermented form of turmeric, and we also have a scenario where not only can you intake these for anti-inflammatory and UV protection, but you also can apply it topically.

I always recommend using a combination of either… you use the paste. How you make it, you open up your capsules and either combine it with like a Greek yogurt, or if you want a little oil kind of blend, you can add a little coconut oil and add that into the paste. It’s going to be kind of slightly runny, but not overly runny. You want it to be liquidy, and then you just smear it on. I have one of those painted brushes, like skin face brushes. You can paint that on the area that’s inflamed, red, sunburnt, or UV-damaged.

I’m really excited to share with you this resource because I bet you probably didn’t think the Turmeric 3D is a resource for you, not just internally, but also topically to support your skin. I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any specific skin health questions and I’ll be sure to answer them in the Ask the Doctor series.

Turmeric 3D - Healthy Inflammation Support
Doctor-Recommended Supplements for Heart Health

Video Transcript:

I’m so excited to share with you today four of our favorite, best resources here at Organixx for improving your heart health.

1. Collagen

Number one is collagen. Our Clean Sourced Collagens are amazing for helping muscle and soft tissue repair. Our assortment, five different types of collagen, it’s very powerful. These collagen types are helpful at supporting the turnover of the cellular process of your heart health, as well as muscle health, and your vasculature. So, overall, collagen is a good repair agent for supporting the functionality of your heart and cardiovascular health.

2. Turmeric 3D

The second supplement that I love is our Turmeric 3D, or T3D. It’s very turmeric-forward, and turmeric is a powerful herb for supporting our heart health. One of the overwhelming benefits of turmeric is that it’s an anti-inflammatory. So, when we’re talking about heart health, and heart disease risks, and risk factors behind stroke and heart attack, and that kind of vascular inflammatory disorders, turmeric is very helpful at lowering overall systemic inflammation, and it also serves to function as a natural diuretic.

Now, quick warning on this, if you are taking any kind of blood-thinning medication like a warfarin, you want to be very cautious of taking also turmeric. So, turmeric is kind of the nature’s natural alternative to a warfarin or a blood thinner, and that’s the other powerful benefit that turmeric provides, is it does thin your blood and helps to move your blood.

So, folks that have been diagnosed with thicker blood or notate a little bit higher elevations of LDL being transported through the blood, that would be a very powerful resource.

3. Magnesium 7

Now, third is honestly one of my favorites, and it’s our combination, or multi-form magnesium, or Magnesium 7. So, magnesium, overall, is going to be one of the most powerful minerals for your heart health. And simply put, magnesium is like a cardiovascular bouncer. It helps to keep out calcium from all aspects of your vasculature.

So, it will help minimize the buildup of hard, kind of gunky bony plaque, which is simply from calcium that is not being articulated and remineralized in other areas, like our bone or our teeth. So, when we’re talking about magnesium in the function of supporting our heart health, calcium blocking is the core powerful function magnesium provides for your heart health.

Now, magnesium, again, this is all different forms, we’re giving you seven different forms of magnesium. Some forms of magnesium are going to be more functional and helpful at moving your bowels, and that is very powerful at helping lower cholesterol levels, keeping things moving. There’s also a lymphatic function where we get the lymphatic fluid moving, which helps minimize the arterial pressure. This is really complex, but basically, there’s this connectivity between our blood vessels and our lymphatic system. It’s how the blood gets rid of toxicity, and it also is the way that it moves the lymphatic system. And there’s this pressure, there’s this kind of interweaving of vessels where there’s a transport mechanism and there is a pressure. It’s pressurized. Well, magnesium helps to get things moving out and through your blood, your lymphatic system.

So, when we’re talking about, maybe you’ve got some congestive heart failure, or edema, or swelling of the ankles, or even maybe are dealing with gout, all of those things can influence the fluid levels and constrain your heart health. Magnesium is great for helping excess fluid that is in the interstitial space, the kind of open space in our vasculature and in around our body. It helps articulate it and move it out. That is very helpful for reducing the overwhelm the heart has in pushing the volume of blood and other fluids in our body.

4. 7 Mushrooms [formerly 7M+]

Now, our fourth, and just powerhouse, is a functional mushroom that you’re going to find in our 7 Mushrooms [formerly 7M+] product. And the functional mushroom here is called chaga. Chaga is one of my favorite adaptogenic functional mushrooms. Adaptogenic, meaning it helps your body adapt to everyday stressors. So, if you are studying and doing a lot of reading and are doing mental work, it helps you adapt to that mental work. If you, later on in the day, are doing a lot of physical activity, it helps your body process and recover and repair after that physical activity.

Chaga also has some really powerful heart-healthy benefits, and I highlight this in another video here this month. I’d have you reference that, but specifically, chaga is great for lowering your elevations of LDL, and it’s an anti-inflammatory.

So, overall, these four supplements, our collagen, our Clean Sourced Collagens, T3D, our MAG7, and our 7 Mushrooms [formerly 7M+] functional mushroom blend that’s chaga-forward. They’re great. So powerful for helping support your heart health.

And if you are looking at being proactive and reducing your heart health risk and helping reduce the inflammation levels in your body systemically, that is a powerful thing to do to reduce your risk of heart disease, strokes, and heart attack. So, I hope you check out these four items in our catalog here at Organixx. They are great for heart health.

Dos & Don’ts to Relieve Pain & Discomfort Due to Interstitial Cystitis (IC)

Video Transcript:

Our next question comes from Susanna C. She says, “I have interstitial cystitis and am in a lot of pain much of the time. Do you know of anything I can eat or drink that might soothe the bladder irritation?”

Susanna, I’m so sorry that you’re suffering with IC – that’s what we call it in the medical world. Interstitial cystitis, for those of you not familiar, is a persistent inflammatory state of the bladder and the urinary tract, and we often find that it flares very similar to how folks experience autoimmune flares, like lupus flares and assorted imbalances in pain and irritation. This becomes really challenging because the lower pelvic deep, deep pelvic region, and lower abdomen can be inflamed and just feel uncomfortable, and it can affect not just the bladder, but for women, it can affect the uterus, the feeling of pain in and around the uterus and also the bowels, the large and small intestine. So it just is really, really annoying.

What Can You Drink to Soothe Symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis?

I want today to address specifically your question about what can you drink when you have interstitial cystitis that can help soothe that state of a flaring bladder or the interstitial cystitis flare.

Avoid These Things to Prevent an IC Flare-Up

So first, let’s start with what you should avoid. Avoid coffee, avoid any type of sweeteners, artificial or natural. Avoid any spices, as well as avoid any acidic beverages and also food. Those are things you just want to wipe out of your routine in terms of buying from the store. But really, the low acid approach is critical because that helps ease that inflammatory state.

Beverages to Bring Relief for IC Symptoms

I have found that my patients really experience relief when they add chamomile tea to the mix. Chamomile tea is just very soothing, it is very anti-inflammatory, and it’s just a very neutral beverage. I also find that adding a water infused with cucumber, mint, and pear also has this soothing effect. It’s this really interesting kind of combination between the three. It’s a beautiful tea, I have folks that will make that up, they’ll make a big vat and they’ll put it in the refrigerator and they will drink that throughout the day, and that just helps eliminate the irritation.

A Caution Regarding Drinking Cranberry Juice

Also, we’ve seen success with peppermint tea as well, and even some cranberry, but I have a cautionary warning with cranberry. I prefer individuals to make their own cranberry juices or to grab cranberries and maybe have the whole cranberries, mash them up a little bit, and then add them into a warm tea that you might be making.

The cranberry that we find on the shelves of the grocery stores are not always concentrated, and they’re also really, really dense in a lot of sugar and things that are going to cause irritation. So, a lot of my patients I find are reaching for cranberry because they’ve read cranberry’s great for the urinary tract, but the cranberry that we find in the grocery stores is just even more overwhelming and can accelerate the flare and extend the time of discomfort. So those are some recommendations as far as the beverage.

Foods Beneficial in Lowering the Flaring Inflammatory State

Now, I’m going to recommend a few food items that are going to be greatly beneficial, and then we recommend a supplement that’s been heavily studied in its effectiveness at lowering the flaring inflammatory state of the inner and outer mucosal lining of the bladder. And that’s really the element that has been compromised or is in that flaring state.

Fermented & Dairy-Free Foods

So, what we recommend is eating fermented foods. As many fermented foods as you can get your hands on. This could be nut yogurts. I prefer going dairy-free because dairy will enhance the mucus. If we’re dealing with any type of inflammatory mucosal lining, that tends to be a challenge.

So avoid dairy, but go with fermented foods like kimchi, fermented beets are really great. You can actually drink beet kvass – a wonderful beverage that’s fermented. Even doing your own fermentation. I have folks that will ferment cashew milk or make their own kefir at home, with an assortment of nut sources.

Supplements to Support Bacteria Balance

Then supplementing with probiotics, and I’m going to recommend Organixx, the ProBiotixx here. This is really wonderful because it has a very powerful one strain that systemically is highly beneficial, especially for women.

We find that when women have bacterial imbalances, they tend to wind up, for some reason, inside the urinary tract and in the bladder. I’ve had women of all ages have to get their bladder scoped and then we actually look at the labs, and we find that they have unhealthy bacteria that should not even exist in the bladder. And that tends to be the core reason why women have this persistent kind of inflammation. It’s this bacterium that never got eradicated in the first one- or two-course of an of antibiotics.

The lactobacillus plantarum, that is in ProBiotixx here, this is highly, highly beneficial, and we see through a lot of data that that particular strain is great for women just overall in the urinary tract, as well as the vaginal canal. So I recommend this.

Quercetin is Derived from Turmeric

The other thing that is heavily researched is quercetin, and quercetin is derived from turmeric. It is one of the most powerful ingredients in turmeric, and so I recommend using turmeric in your daily life. I love to recommend it as a spice that flavors foods. You can also add that to a tea as well, and you can supplement, but if you’re going to supplement, the best form of turmeric is to get or consume a fermented turmeric. That is the combination of the fermented foods, plus the anti-inflammatory state of quercetin.

Fermented Turmeric Can Reduce Intensity and Duration of an IC Flare

And I’m really excited to share with you that Turmeric 3D has quercetin in it. It’s the core ingredient. It is a fermented version, and the fermentation process actually has been invigorated by adaptogens, so that will help lower the stress response of your body when you’re in that flaring state, and also you’ll notice a decrease in the flare, the time of the flare, and then you can start to identify some of the triggers in your life.

There are an overwhelming amount of triggers. It could be stress, it could be bowel imbalances, it could be food-related. Allowing your body some healing time gives you better access to identify the source or trigger of a flare.

And ultimately, over time, as you add in more probiotic dense fermented foods, and then add an actual probiotic, plus quercetin in the form of raw turmeric, powdered, spice turmeric, tea turmeric, and included in it a supplementation of fermented turmeric, you’re going to notice a massive change in the IC that you’re experiencing.

So, I hope this has been helpful. I’m really excited to hear how you do, and Susanna, know you’re not alone. This affects a lot of women and we just don’t talk about it. So I’m excited to help you on your health journey, and thanks for asking this very wonderful question.

The Best Supplements for Moms

Video Transcript:

As a mom, a working mom, and a busy sometimes stressed-out mom, I want to share with you four amazing supplements that every mom, grandma, and female needs in their lives, particularly if you are experiencing fatigue, or need an energy boost to balance all of the balls that you have up the air, or you’re just dealing with overall stress. I am so excited to share these four with you.

Collagen – Not Just for Wrinkles

So, number one, in the anti-aging category, but also deep healing, I recommend collagen, Clean Sourced Collagens. Specifically, collagen is wonderful for women in reducing fine lines and wrinkles around the laugh lines, crow’s feet, your little furrows.

So, if you feel like the stress and everyday life is wearing you down and you’re physically seeing a reduction in the elasticity of your skin, a wonderful gift for yourself or any mom or grandma in your life is collagen.

Collagen has not just superficial anti-aging benefits that can be seen in two to four weeks and continues to compound, it also has massive benefits in healing your gut. So if you or a mom or grandma in your life experiences any type of gut imbalances, leaky gut, indigestion, IBS, bloating, gas, those are all going to be indicative of small intestinal imbalances, potentially something that we call leaky gut, where literally the structures in between these small little microvilli and single-cell lining of our small intestine, that gets opened up and the tissue itself is not as strong and supple.

Collagen can actually strengthen those divides and create a situation where we can heal leaky gut. This is a permanent type of solution. So if you, as a mom, grandma, or have any moms or grandmas in your life that you want to help support their health, collagen, our Clean Sourced Collagens is great to use. You can use a scoop a day. Sometimes I’ll do two doses in the morning and the evening. You can add this to a tea or a coffee, yogurt, smoothie. There’s a lot of different ways to use this. And I even put it in our mommy cookies. I call them mommy cookies. And my son and my husband, we all eat these amazing plant-based raw cookies, and we put in collagen for an extra oomph of protein. So that’s number one.

Magnesium to Reduce Fluid Retention and Balance Sleep

Number two, I want to talk to all you ladies who might be experiencing imbalanced sleep, fluid retention – and this could be mild where you might notice that at the end of the day, your feet or ankles are swelling. You might notice that you feel more puffy and just holding maybe one to five pounds of excess fluid. Magnesium 7, this is our multi-complex magnesium blend. This has an assorted amount and assorted types of magnesium. They target certain body systems. But magnesium specifically is great for enhancing the fluid production and the flow of fluid that might be stagnant inside your body. And it’ll articulate it, so we can flush that out, the pathways, like our kidneys and our bladder. So magnesium can help reduce fluid retention. I recommend this for all my lymphatic patients, my patients with lymphedema, or folks with edema and light, gentle swelling.

But also, magnesium is great for balancing sleep. Magnesium, this particular mineral is a master mineral. We have over 600 enzymatic reactions in our body that need magnesium. So magnesium can improve sleep. It can calm the body, calm the central nervous system. So for women who have anxiety or even depression, just feeling like the brain is not optimized, you’re not feeling completely 100% yourself – personality or just mental health-wise – magnesium is great. So I always recommend that.

You can take a dose in the evening, that tends to be when we can get the max benefits for sleep. But you can also add a dose in the morning. So spacing it out in 10 to 12 hours is going to give us that max, multiple delivery long-term benefits of magnesium.

Functional Mushrooms Bring Massive Benefits

Number three, the next recommendation I’m really excited because this, I use to power me up to energize my body, to reduce inflammation, as well as any type of free radical damage from everyday allergens or viral or bacterial invasions.

I cannot speak enough to the massive benefits that we as women experience from functional mushrooms. Particularly, functional mushrooms support our brain. They support and balance our hormones. They can help us get through perimenopause, menopause. It also is very beneficial for women post-pregnancy.

Lower Stress Levels & Calm the Central Nervous System

What we find are functional mushrooms that we are going to get in our 7 Mushrooms blend. By the way, these are fermented and they are extremely powerful. Each of the mushrooms in this blend have massive amounts of clinical research that showcases the potency and the power of these medicinal mushrooms in helping lower our stress levels, calm our central nervous system, recalibrate our stress response mechanism – meaning that fight or flight, like we’re always in that kind of squirrel. You know when you’re driving around down the road and the squirrel’s like, “Eh,” and it doesn’t know what to do and it runs in front of your car? We are in that state on a daily basis. And as moms, grandmothers, and women who are caregivers, this is a massive, massive negative influence on our overall health and wellness.

And where I use functional mushrooms in not just my life, but the lives of my patients, is we can help support and balance the stress level, but also enhance our adaptogenic influences from functional mushrooms – meaning mushrooms in this blend, 7 Mushrooms blend, they can actually help your body adapt to and deal with stress better. So normally, you’re walking around with your glass, it’s full and overflowing, mushrooms let the valve out. So it releases some of that intensity, the pressure, and it calms the way you’re going to deal with everyday life. And if you are a mom watching this, you know that all the time, we’re managing and juggling a lot in our families and our kids’ lives and just all the things that are on our plate.

Brain Health & Immune Support Along with Minimizing Cancer Risk

So, the functional mushrooms are a really good way to support your body. They also have amazing benefits in supporting brain health. And we see some of these mushrooms are highly beneficial at minimizing our risk of cancer. They can support cell apoptosis of cancer cells, meaning cell death of cancer cells. They have a very powerful influence for balancing and modulating our immune response, and have anti-inflammatory impact. So overall, stress-lowering, inflammation-reducing. They are high in antioxidants, which keeps us youthful and helps support our cells. So mushrooms are always on my list for moms. Moms and mushrooms go hand-in-hand, powers you up.

Anti-Inflammatory Reduces Risk of Illness, Disease & Pain

And my last and final is really one of the things that we see with all illness and disease, but particularly with women. Some of the major common illnesses women experience are inflammatory in their orientation – meaning the cause of illness and disease is from an overwhelm of inflammation within the body. It’s systemic inflammation. And that inflammation can often cause pain, pains in our joints, in our muscles and tissue. Sometimes people will feel just this pain body, pain experience, aches and pains, just feel like you’re not as functional and fluid as you used to be.

Joint & Muscle Care is a big winner for my patients who experience pain and inflammatory disorders. If you have a mom or grandma or you yourself are suffering from one or many autoimmune dysfunctions, inflammation is the root cause.

Potent Trio of Ingredients

Joint & Muscle Care has three powerful ingredients: turmeric, myrrh, and it has frankincense. Those three have a long-term history as beneficial medicinals. Turmeric is a potent anti-inflammatory. So it can reduce inflammation, which will reduce nerve impact and nerve-related pain, i.e., your body’s registering pain. The other thing that we see with myrrh is just a really good balancer, and can reduce inflammatory conditions of our respiratory system, and can combat some of the allergen responses that we experience to our environment.

The other benefit with frankincense, frankincense is awesome. So let me share with you how awesome frankincense is. We have seen European studies showcase frankincense has anti-cancer properties. Frankincense is also a very grounding herb, and can help us root and recalibrate and balance our body and our parasympathetic nervous system. It helps keep us level and balanced.

So these three together in the Joint & Muscle Care are awesome for us women who might have current inflammatory conditions. You might feel aches and pains. And even hormone imbalance can kick off inflammation in the body. So combating systemic inflammation will greatly reduce your risk of illness and disease.

So for moms, grandmothers, and women who are seeking a complex, complete blend of powerful potent medicinals, these four: Collagen in powder form, 7 Mushrooms, the mushroom blend, Magnesium – major winner, the magnesium, I love magnesium – and it’ll also get you regular, so you’ll eliminate constipation, which 40% of breast cancer is caused from constipation. We actually see those links. And then also Joint & Muscle Care. So I’m excited for you to grab all four of these. Click on the link down below to get more information to order these products for you, your mothers, your grandmothers, aunts – all the women in your life can greatly benefit from these four items.

Why Dr. Melissa Loves Turmeric 3D

Video Transcript:

Today, I want to share with you why I love Turmeric 3D so much for not just inflammation reduction and balancing our stress hormone, but also just overall supporting our brain function, our digestive function, and our cardiovascular function.

Maximizes Benefit & Bioavailability with Fermented Botanicals

One of the awesome things that we have harnessed here at Organixx is we have a unique fermentation process of the ingredients in a multitude of our supplements. And Turmeric 3D is a part of that fermentation process, which allows you as a consumer to get the max benefits of the turmeric and the ashwagandha, and the other botanical powerhouses in Turmeric 3D that will help lower inflammation, reduce excess fluid weight and retention, and can also help restore and rejuvenate your immune state, balance your stress levels, calm hormonal imbalances

Lowers Inflammation

And it even helps with your brain-based inflammation, which we’re seeing now with a lot of post-COVID infections. You don’t even have to qualify as a long COVID or a long hauler, but there are a lot of individuals that are still having residual inflammation and even patients that have auto-immunity or folks that have lymphedema or lipedema, or just overall notice they’re carrying more cellulite or excess weight. Those are all signs of an inflammatory state.

So, using Turmeric 3D allows you to harness the potency of turmeric, which has been heavily researched in its amazing power to lower inflammation markers in your body. It also has ashwagandha, which is a wonderful stress-balancing herbal, and in a fermented form, it actually is going to be more bioavailable. So, you need less and you get more power and more potency.

Addresses Vitamin D3 Deficiency

So, I’m excited to share that with you because one of the things that we love, not only are you getting the turmeric and the botanicals, but we also add D3 in a form, it’s a 5,000 IU form, which vitamin D3, I find almost all of my patients when I do a blood spot test, we do blood spot testing in my clinic, they are all in low or suboptimal levels or ranges of vitamin D3. And vitamin D3 has a lot to do with your mental outlook. It is a hormone precursor. It’s a building block. It’s an ingredient for your body, balancing your stress levels, your reproductive hormone levels, and overall, every cell has receptivity to vitamin D

COVID-19 Recovery: How Turmeric Can Help Restore Taste and Smell

Video Transcript:

If you are experiencing the loss of taste and smell due to a recent, or even in the near past, COVID infection, I’m going to share with you a very small but potentially influential study that showcases the benefit of one amazing, powerful herb that might be able to completely restore the loss of taste and smell. So I’m excited to share that with you today.

Why Does COVID-19 Cause Loss of Taste and Smell?

So recently, there was this very interesting and very small study about COVID-19 and the loss of taste and smell. And we know the loss of taste and smell is a common occurrence with an assorted viral invasions and respiratory infections. But with COVID-19, it’s more extensive. We’re seeing the olfactory epithelial membrane. That’s actually this amazing little membrane that sits in between your brain and the upper part of your mouth and your sinus cavity. That is what registers our sense of smell. And then with that, we also see smell enhances taste, we have taste buds that sit on our tongue. The taste buds and the olfactory epithelial membrane are getting overwhelmed by the spike proteins and the ACE2 receptivity that we see overwhelming the body with the COVID-19 infection.

And so, there are a lot of individuals that are dealing with this. And in fact, there’s calculated estimations between 60 and 80% of all COVID infections lead to some degree of a loss of taste and smell.[1] The extent of it varies, but we’re seeing about 20% of the patients. And this is because of the quantity of infections. Millions of patients right now are dealing with extended loss of taste and smell. 20% have that extended beyond 30 days. So, 30 days or more, some patients I’m seeing have had the loss of taste and smell for nine to ten months. And some of them are getting some of those senses back, but in weird ways. Like now, it’s moved from the loss of smell into this weird phase where they have weird smell. So it’ll smell sulfuric, or it smells very, very gross.

A Study on Turmeric/Curcumin and COVID-19

And so, that is something I want to address today because this study looks at curcumin, which is turmeric. And turmeric was studied in specifically two patients. And again, I want to share with you, this is not an extensive study. But with COVID, I really like to share assorted studies that might be beneficial. And so, let’s talk a little bit about this specific study.

What they identified: Two different patients, one in their 40s, another in their 60s, that had this extensive loss of taste and smell for over 30 days from a COVID infection. And what they did is they dosed them with 1000 mg of turmeric. And in both instances, within one case, 10 minutes after supplementation, complete restoration of taste and smell. That’s pretty spectacular. Now, the other patient had a return, a restoration of their taste and smell, within 12 hours of supplementation. Now, does that mean that all of you who might have taste and smell, that loss might benefit as quickly? It’s hard to say, because it’s such a small sample size. But it is worthy of noting, the speedy recovery is specifically linked to 1000 mg dose of turmeric or curcumin.

So, curcumin has been studied with COVID-19. And I’m going to share with you, if you haven’t grabbed the Turmeric 3D by Organixx, grab that. This is a wonderful, wonderful supplement, that has 1000 mg of curcumin, and a whole bunch of other powerful immune-supportive herbals. Curcumin, specifically, has been studied to block a particular protease. So it’s the protease, when blocking with a COVID infection, actually limits that spike protein from implanting and rejuvenating. Basically, we see that replication of the viral, the virus, it comes down, by blocking the protease. So that is one thing we know from other studies, extensive studies, that curcumin can block that.

Curcumin Helps Decrease the Cytokine Storm

Curcumin also has been studied for its pro-anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to decrease the cytokine disruption or the cytokine storm. That’s a technical term for the immune response ends up being an inflammatory response in a patient. So what happens, for whatever reason, the way the infection works is for some individuals, we see them have a ramp-up of their immune system. And now that immune system goes haywire, and we end up seeing this massive inflammatory response. It’s very similar to an autoimmune response, but very differently in the extent of it. It can be massive enough why we see some patients, they come into the ER, they’ve got oxygen levels of 63, they’re talking, and then an hour later, we have to put them on a vent. Trach them, and ventilate them.

Cytokine Reaction and Neuro COVID

One of the things that we see is that overwhelm, that specific cytokine reaction, this mass cell and this inflammatory reaction – it’s a very overwhelming, inflammatory reaction. It can damage a lot of different tissue and a lot of different organs and systems within the body. And damage, some of it can be short-term, some of it can be permanent. We are seeing the blood-brain barrier leaking. We see the overwhelm of the inflammatory cytokine reactivity in the brain. We’re seeing neurological COVID, and the loss of taste and smell is one of the three phases of COVID, neuro COVID. We call it COVID brain.

But neuro COVID[2] has three phases. The first phase, the signals that the blood-brain barrier has been compromised, is the loss of taste and smell. And, that poses other longer-term overwhelming scenarios for folks that may be, like in my family, on my maternal side, we have a likelihood and a propensity to Alzheimer’s and dementia. So, that could potentially put you at risk. And, I want to share with you how, in this particular study, the curcumin was effective. We see when we add a mega dose, like what you can find in Turmeric 3D.

Curcumin/Turmeric: An Anti-inflammatory that Blocks Protease

When we see a mega dose, 1000 milligram dose of curcumin, we see the blocking of the protease, which helps limit if somebody’s in an active state. And a lot of times people are going to, you’re going to notice in the infection that’s when you get the loss of taste and smell. So it’s most beneficial to be proactive – as soon as you have the onset of the loss and taste of smell, you want to hit it with curcumin.

But, we’ve even seen the disruption and the overwhelm of the immune state and the inflammatory response, that lasts for months. So the speedy restoration of the epithelial cell wall and the return to homeostasis, meaning a reduction of inflammation in and around the cells of the olfactory bulb and this mucosal membrane, that is where we see the greatest healing, and curcumin, in those two cases, has shown to be highly beneficial. Does that mean that within 20 minutes of taking it you’re going to have complete restoration? I don’t know, because we don’t have enough scientific data, but it’s definitely worthy of taking note and adding a supplement like the Organixx Turmeric 3D into your regular routine.

Because, if you are dealing with the loss of taste and smell, it is really frustrating. And it becomes really critical that we address the olfactory epithelium, and limit the inflammation. So, an anti-inflammatory like we find in turmeric, the base ingredient, curcumin, it’s blocking, and it’s pro-anti-inflammatory properties are highly beneficial.

So, I’m excited to share that with you today. And please share this information with as many friends or family who you know that have experienced and are currently dealing with this frustrating loss of taste and smell. If we can help folks recover, it can help their sanity, it can help them feel like their vitality is back, that they’re feeling better, and life is moving on.

So, I’m excited to get all of you smelling better, tasting better, so you can live of your most optimized wellness and optimized life, and make sure you grab some Turmeric 3D.
